When a storm tears through Tampa, the damage doesn’t stop when the wind does. Rain keeps coming through a lifted roof or a broken window. Water soaks into drywall, insulation and subfloors. In Florida’s heat, mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours. Tidal Restoration responds 24/7 from our Tampa office on McCormick Drive. We secure the house first, then remove the water, dry the structure and make the repairs, all with one local team.

What Storms Do to Tampa Homes
- Wind-driven rain. Strong gusts push water under shingles and tile and around window and door frames. It often travels along rafters before it shows up as a ceiling stain.
- Roof and window damage. Falling limbs, flying debris and lifted roofing open the house to every rain that follows.
- Storm surge and rising water. Low-lying neighborhoods near the bay, including parts of South Tampa, Davis Islands and the Bayshore area, can take on floodwater from outside. Floodwater is treated as contaminated (Category 3) water and has to be handled differently from a roof leak.
- Lightning. Tampa Bay sees some of the most lightning in the country, and strikes can start attic fires and damage electrical systems.
- Power outages. With no AC running, indoor humidity climbs fast and turns small leaks into mold problems.

What We Do, in Order
- Secure the property. Emergency roof tarping and board-up of broken windows and doors, to keep weather and intruders out.
- Remove the water. Truck-mounted and portable extraction for standing water, wet carpet and saturated pads.
- Remove contaminated materials. Floodwater-soaked drywall, insulation and flooring are removed and disposed of safely, and the area is cleaned and disinfected.
- Dry the structure. Commercial air movers and dehumidifiers, with moisture readings until walls, floors and framing are dry.
- Prevent mold. Antimicrobial treatment and close monitoring. If mold has already started, our licensed mold remediators (MRSR5578) handle it. See mold remediation in Tampa.
- Document everything. Photos, moisture readings and a written scope for your insurance company and adjuster.
- Repair. As a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1541935), we rebuild what the storm damaged: drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinets, trim and paint. Permanent roof repair or replacement is done by a licensed roofer, and we coordinate with them.

Storm Damage FAQs: Tampa
How fast can you get to storm damage in Tampa?
We’re available 24/7 and usually on-site within 60 minutes anywhere in Tampa. After a major storm, calls spike across Tampa Bay, so we prioritize active leaks and standing water. When you call, we’ll tell you honestly when we can be there.
Do you tarp roofs and board up windows?
Yes. Emergency roof tarping and board-up are usually the first things we do, so no more water gets in while we dry the house. Permanent roof repair is done by a licensed roofer.
Is floodwater from a storm dangerous?
Rising floodwater is treated as Category 3 (contaminated) water because it can carry sewage, chemicals and bacteria. Avoid contact. Wet drywall, insulation and carpet pad it touched usually have to be removed, not just dried.
Will my insurance cover storm damage?
Every policy is different, and only your insurance company can decide what your policy covers. We document the cause and extent of the damage with photos and moisture readings and work directly with your insurance company and adjuster. For questions about your coverage, contact your insurance company or agent.
Can you repair the damage, or only clean it up?
Both. We’re a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1541935), so the same team that dries your home repairs the drywall, flooring, cabinets and trim. We do repairs after damage, not remodeling.
