A leak from the unit above flooded a St. Petersburg condo bathroom

The bathroom walls and ceiling were too saturated to dry in place. We removed them, cleaned and sanitized the room, and dried it so the rebuild could start.

What we found

Water from the unit above had soaked the bathroom. The drywall on the walls and ceiling was heavily saturated and starting to break down, so it could not be dried in place. We also found water damage in the hallway and in the master closet off the bedroom.

What we did

At the owner's direction we removed all the affected wall and ceiling materials in the bathroom, removed the damaged vanity, and detached the toilet to reach the materials behind and around it. Then we cleaned and sanitized every exposed surface following IICRC standards.

With the wet materials out, we set three air movers and a dehumidifier to dry the framing. When the drying was done we removed the equipment, and the bathroom was ready for build-back.
