Tracing a hidden leak in San Antonio, FL to a failed PEX fitting

We found standing water behind the dining room baseboards and followed it along the kitchen wall into the pantry, where an inspection cut found a PEX connector leaking inside the wall.

What we found

Standing water ran along the exterior wall of the dining room, and the baseboards and drywall were damaged along its full length. With the baseboards off, we found standing water between the tile and the concrete wall. Water kept coming back into the wall cavity while we extracted it, so the leak was still active.

Finding the source

We followed the water along the kitchen wall. The lower parts of the base cabinets were damaged, and removing them exposed more standing water in the cabinet footprints. From there it led into the pantry, where water was actively flowing from the wall shared with the den.

An inspection cut in that wall showed a failed PEX connector leaking inside it. Licensed plumbers on site repaired it.

What we did

We extracted all the standing water and removed the damaged cabinets, baseboards and drywall. Air movers went into every area with elevated readings, and dehumidifiers into the pantry, kitchen and dining room.
